Our Thoughts on Novotel Birmingham Airport

We booked a night’s stay here as we had an early start the next day for our holiday to Salou.  We have quite a drive to get to Birmingham from our house so it made sense to get a base close to the airport to start our holiday off at a more relaxed pace.  I wanted hubbie to have a bit more of a chill before flying.

I dread to think what time we would have had to be up and out the door if we hadn’t booked an airport hotel, its tough getting the boys moving too and I would have been panicking about getting to the airport in time for check-in.  It was hard enough to get them moving when we were just a few steps away from check-in, anymore would have been making my blood pressure rise and holidays should be about unwinding.

On the way to Novotel Birmingham Airport we had enjoyed a visit to Cadbury World and then it was onwards to our hotel.  Check in was quick and our room was adequate to our needs.  We hadn’t booked breakfast as I wasn’t sure if we could face a big Novotel buffet first thing and do it justice, instead I brought some pain au chocolat with me to appease the boys grumbling tummies first thing, washed down with a carton of apple juice.  It was a much cheaper solution too.

The nights stay cost £113 for our family room.  It was a good size, I liked that you had an additional internal door which really helped keep out the corridor noise of people leaving earlier than us to catch flights or guests arriving after lights out for us.  The windows were very thick too so you didn’t realise you were staying at a busy airport location from the relative peace and quiet.  The bathroom was lovely, powerful shower, plenty of towels and complimentary shampoo and soap.  The only thing if I was to be picky is the biscuits were a bit naff that came with the provided coffee/tea facilities, but we had ample chocolate from Cadbury World to see us through anyway!

We had a meal in the Novotel restaurant that night, there are alternative choices in the airport, and we would have chosen Frankie and Benny’s but for some reason their kitchen was closed so sadly that wasn’t a possibility.

As it was our meal in the Novotel restaurant was good, the boys food was a bargain and they had plenty.

I really liked my spaghetti carbonara.

I would recommend Novotel Birmingham Airport if you have an early flight, it really was a nice comfortable nights stay.  We woke refreshed and ready to start our holiday.
